Strengthen Families

Some families need extra support at times, to deal with housing and employment issues, financial difficulties, or family crises. Building developmental assets in families develops youth and helps create community. Creating a sense of teamwork between parents and teens empowers both the youth and adults. The Banyan staff recognizes this and makes visits to the homes of families throughout the year, providing helpful advice and connections to needed resources like employment training, health care and housing.   Part of the high school program is to work together with parents to help high school youth set goals and empower parents to help youth attain goals with Banyan support.
Sometimes families and parents will come by the Banyan to ask for advice or seek help. The Banyan staff responds by helping the families develop both short-term and long-term responses to their situations.
